Request for Excel help with the latest Kindalas/JMobius XLS sheets
I noticed these character sheets have room for custom backgrounds and factions, but I'm not familiar enough with Excel code to go about implementing them. I was wondering if anyone could give me a quick guide on how to go about that.

What you want to do is go to the variables sheet. Scroll down until you get to the custom background section. Fill in first the name of your background, if the name doesn't cause a conflict with the lookup variables then the "Is name acceptable" column will change to yes automatically. Then you have a whole row of drop-down values, just experiment with them to match hat you like. You then need to decide what morphs are allowed by that background. But the way the value is calculated is that a "no" counts to ban, while everything else (a "yes" or blank) will make the morph buyable. Add any ego traits the background provides too. Then move onto custom factions, they are similar to backgrounds except you don't need to choose ego traits. you then need to scroll up to the selectable backgrounds and factions sections. Make your custom background/factions buyable. and you're all set.

Do you think you could add a Rez/Rep points attribution section. Each time I do changes with Rez points, the CP counter goes into the negatives

On the Setup sheet. There is a heading called REZ mode. Toggle the drop down at "is character generation complete?" to yes. Using that toggle removes the limitations that had been placed during character generation and converts any excess CP spent into REZ spent and enables an input so REZ rewarded can be tracked. Is that what you were asking for? OR did i make an error in my system?

Ohh! Thank you! On the printable sheet, the unused gear lines should be hidden, as they cause extra page to be printed for nothing Beside, for those who have poor eyes sight, the fonts are a bit small on the printable It would be interesting to have the general mentions (names, background, faction, rep and current morph) plus a space for a pic and the written story of the character on the first page, aptitudes, skills and traits on the second and the gear on the third, along with some space for contacts. Speaking of contact, they should have a sheet of their own Name Faction Network they're contacted through and their rep scores That last mention should be like the loyalty and influence rates in shadowrun but using the EP existing system Maybe even a picture if the GM provides the player Would that be feasable?

I forgot to mention a Rep sheet would be very welcome, for details Stuff like whom owes the player favours and of which level and network, and to whom the player owes favours himself

Re: Request for Excel help with the latest Kindalas/JMobius ...
I'm actually working now on a complete redesign of the whole sheet. Mostly because I don't like the underlying design structure of the sheet. As it uses a number of variables to choose which data to lookup to make the printable sheet. Instead I want the sheet to look at what has been filled in and purchased and then generate an output based on that. I also want to be able to have 5 morphs, and be able to apply different fork filters to those morphs. So that a player can have say a case morph with a beta fork as their 2nd morph. And the sheet will apply those variables as needed. I think my point is that something new is coming and I'll try and include all of your requests because a useful feature is a good feature.

I might go so far as to ask whether this new re-design will be OpenDoc compatible all around. If it is compatible with the ODF standard, that means it's fully usable in OpenOffice/LibreOffice and Google Docs.

No promises at this point. But OpenDoc compatible is one of my personal goals for this project. Right now I have 20 or so notebook pages describing how I want things to work. I should really set up a thread to discuss the initial pre-usable design process to keep people involved. Thoughts?

Your "open workshop" idea would be great. I know myself and my players could find a few suggestions to make. Also, thanks for these. VERY handy. Another quick question: Where can I edit the descriptions?

Thanks, and I never really made them editable. It was just one of those features that got lost over time.

No, I found them! They're under the Data page instead of Values. Now I'm set. Again, thanks for these, and I look forward to seeing your next release.

I'd be very glad to help! I have a suggestion for you mix the Aptitudes table with the Skills like this
Quote:
(name-with filter-) (field)(spec.)(type -filter all/act/knowledge)(base score) (Mods) (total) COOR skill skill skill skill COG skill skill skill skill etc..
it's both quicker to check, and spare some space the type means it's active or knowledge. And filter would allow you to select which option you wish to display. if you need to find a SAV skill, you just look for the aptitude, and all the skills woud be listed bellow. Looking for a knowledge skill? filter with knowledge in the type column how does that sound?

Howdy, I'm one of Blackbird Lore's players. My suggestion for the sheets would be to have editable GM page for custom fields such as Backgrounds and traits. Another thing I would like to suggest is on the Skills sheet is to freeze the upper area of the sheet; the Points, background Bonus Skills, and Free Language/Sheet Display Mode/Skillsofts so that when you scroll down to change values, you always know how many points you have left without having to scrolls back up. Same with the gear Sheet: Freezing the Points, Cash/Credit Cost/Stats. I really enjoy using these sheets, quite easy to use. I look forward to the next version and offer my help, if possible.

I created a new thread to discuss what I am working on for the new Excel Character generator that I am developing. It is HERE! I also uploaded the 0.89 Sheet on the main thread.
