Moxie - Ignore Modifiers.
Hi folks, I've got a really quick question regarding Moxie and the ability to ignore modifiers that apply to a test. Strictly speaking, the wording of this passage indicates that you would ignore all modifiers that apply to a test -- both positive and negative. I just want to confirm whether this is the actual intent -- to make it a straight roll against the character's stat + skill -- and if, from an opinion perspective, anyone feels that certain modifiers should apply (like specialization or any pertaining to the specific task, like quantam codebreaking or brute force hacking). To give an example using brute force hacking (which is what I was looking at when this question came up): stacking positive modifiers (+30 from brute force hacking, +10 from specialization, plus the option of teamwork and/or complementary skills) and then rushing the job. Spending Moxie to negate the rush job penalty looks pretty appealing, but you'd be looking at a net of -20, so all you need is one decent complementary skill to even that out... and if the Moxie nixes the positive modifers too, you're better off just trying to use it to flip digits (or turn a success into a crit). Thanks!

Re: Moxie - Ignore Modifiers.
Actually this is quite a good question. At first I thought Moxie should eliminate some modifiers (negative ones, like those due to wounds) but not others (positive ones like teamwork), but as I thought about it, it is a blurry divide. I mean, rain can be a negative modifier, if you can cancel it with Moxie, when there is no "inside reason" for it to be cancelled (like resisting epically the pain), then there is no reason for other external modifiers not to be lost. So I'd take it literally, and rule it cancels ALL modifiers, positive, negative, aid, rush jobs, etc.

Re: Moxie - Ignore Modifiers.
The more I think about it, that's essentially how I feel too, though I'd probably let task-specific modifiers apply, ignoring all other modifiers; e.g. someone doing some brute force hacking still makes the test at +30, as the test's baseline target is score+30, but ignoring any other perks (teamwork/specialization/equipment advantage) or drawbacks (rush job/inury/equipment disadvantage).
