Excel Character generator 2nd edition thread.

Second Edition is coming.

I'm psyched for it.

I love Eclipse Phase with all of my thinking and emotion parts.... ....so my brain.

As soon as the open playtest starts. I'm going to start building a new Excel generator since Singularity as it is structured isn't going to continue, as mentioned in the FAQ.

What features do you peoples want included from the ground up.

The only one I can't do is a save/load feature since I don't use Macros in documents I share publicly on the internet.

Native support for swapping

Native support for swapping morphs - without making a new sheet. We're told that the new morph rules will be painless compared to the old game, but it couldn't hurt.

A 'weapons' or 'combat' section which pulls weapon damage values and other information from the character's gear list, to minimize the amount of flipping through books during combat. Bonus points if it includes to-hit values as modified by things like smartlinks (though hopefully the new rules will have less in the way of modifier bloat).

Did you hear the one about the guy who became a fence?

It should have all of those things.

I want it to be at least as useful as the previous excel sheets I worked on.

First I just wanna say I really like your existing sheet, thanks again for going through all the effort!

I would ask if you just give it a look over every now and again in Google Sheets, I know I had some (small) problems with that in the past :)

I'll do my best to avoid collapses of functionality.

If I recall correctly Google sheets didn't like dynamic dropdowns.

Kindalas, I created an excel character generator with alot of automation included (like weapon profiles based off ammo used, dynamic skill list in the character sheet), which was based off your original file.

I'm happy to send you an unprotected copy of my version if it'll help with the development of a new generator for 2nd edition.

Blueprints

I'd like to see the option of marking a weapon as a blueprint so you don't pay for them in the weapon section, but still get the details in the combat notes section. Same goes for ammunition.

Of course, I'd also like more spaces for blueprints - in the last version of your previous spreadsheet, I doubled the number of lines for blueprints and nearly used them all.

Edit: A possibly better option might be to add another column on the Gear sheet which basically says, "Is this Gear a blueprint?", with a yes/no dropdown and cost calculated automatically, then collected in a meaningful way on the printable sheet. This would allow combat details for weapons and ammo to be displayed without extra mucking around.

Your definition of horror is meaningless to me.......
