Hi, I found Eclipse Phase during the early days and have at least skimmed most of the material but haven't had a gaming group in years to try it. I see there are a few options for online play and I'm somewhat interested in trying that at some point but what I've been pondering lately is the potential for Video Game versions of various types. The idea I had in mind came to me a while back and I've been trying to find a way to get even a crude prototype together. What I'm thinking is similar in many ways to X-Com and the new Shadowrun game, not coincidentally I think given the connection between SR and EP. The Player takes control of a Firewall Team based on a Ship with it's own Healing Vats, Cornucopia Machines, Research Labs, etc... the ship itself can be expanded and upgraded like an X-Com Base. Instead of a "Geoscape" you get a System View, either of the entire Sol System or "just" a Planetary Subsystem. X-Risks pop up and you can deploy a team to investigate, either by egocasting some operatives to locally available Morphs or if you are close enough from the ship itself. Once you're there I figure it should play out like Shadowrun or the X-Com "Battlescape" but in "proper" 3D to allow for Microgravity Environments. I'm thinking a Voxel or similar style map structure would make sense and allow for relatively simple implementation of procedural generation, which also potentially lends itself very well to the fractal nastiness of the TITANs... I can't really say I've got any major ideas story wise, I'm looking at this as sort of a Tactical Sandbox game where a story or stories could be built and integrated by the players themselves, naturally releasing the software under a Permissive License, too. An Expandable Open Source and World Sci-Fi Turn Based Tactical Role Playing Game... problem is I'm not that much more advanced than "Hello World" when it comes to coding and the like, so I'm stumped as to where to even start on a project this big... Anyone got some pointers or sufficiently tweaked interest to "steal" my idea and run with it?
