Jessy Danton -you pronounce either like the French revolutionaire or Danntonn, that's up to anybody's choice- is Titanese, and working for Medusan Shields. Though he's pretty versatile in his cases, he has a special affinity with cases of identity crimes.
Five years ago, a team of Gorgon Systems attacked a cache of the ID Crew, leaving no survivor, only a pile of morphless cortical stacks, with no indication of where they came from. And when I say a pile, i'm talking a cubic meter sized pile. It took month to Gorgon's psychosurgeons to sort them all, but eventually only a handful were salvageable, though with severe mental trauma. Jessy was one of these lucky few. He woke up in a Simspace with no idea of his name, origins, nada. So the first thing he had to do was pick himself a new name. Jessy after Jessie James, and Danton, after the French Revolution man.

At first, he tried to work for a Gatecrashing cooperative, helping build colonies and settlement for Autonomists who wanted to start anew on an exoplanet. within a few months, he started seeing worms in this heavenly fruit. He talked to his supervisor, but he didn't believe him. So Jess started tailing the suspect coworker, and discovered that he was making backup of their ego during their sleep, and sending them through the Gate to an accomplice whom Jess learned from eavesdropping through hacked spimes, belonged to 9 Lives. He went to the supervisor, but that idiot would rather ignore the problem than do something about it. So Jess, with his catch, went back to Chat Noir and delivered the thief to the Love And Rage who in turn, handed him to Gorgon. Upon questionning, Jess explained and found himself offered a job as a detached detective for Medusan Shields, to move from habitat to habitat, whereas MS has precinct and franchise or contract .

Skype works for me if I'm honest. I use it a lot, and it's a reliable piece of software. I'd offer to GM myself, but I'm on a hiatus with my tabletop group and shortly I may well be GMing Spirit Of The Century for my OTHER tabletop group...

I'm still developing several character ideas, though due to having something of a military overload in my past few games (and playing an ex-soldier in tabletop) he (or she) will definitely not be from that background.

I'm thinking an Uplift, a Neo-Crow. Specialising in engineering and repair work, piloting and remote operating bots. Hadn't really decided on a faction or anything yet but I've tentatively hovered on Extropian, if only because it is the easiest to take elsewhere...

Like I mentioned in an earlier post, I'm thinking about a Medusan Shield cop who is specialized in identity related crimes ID theft, illegal forking, mind rape, toxic meme spreading, that kind of case. He's dispatched by Gorgon Systems wherever a case presents itself.
Jess himself was in a case, found during a raid against IDcrew facility. Of the hundreds ego found there, only three were salvageable, albeit damaged.
He was among the three, with no idea of his name, or real origins or former affiliation.
After a brief period as gatecrashing settler, he was hired by MS.
Through the cases he works on, the one he one day hopes to solve is his own.

I missed the skype chat about the setting. Mars or space station? my character (whose crunch still needs to be done, but would preferably be done in direct chat with the GM) is a cop from Medusan Shield and affected wherever there is a case for him. Could do some nice jurisdiction conflicts with the local PC security forces)

So, yesterday we had our first game. It was very funny and included speculation about making an ass-gun which is grown out of an avian butt and shoots biological sprays...

Also, i had to scrub my brain afterwards - and i was not alone.

There were some difficulties alas, as a German saying goes: "Aller Anfang ist schwer" (could maybe be translated to something like "It's always hard in the beginning." )

We had some technical issues with people becoming disconnected from the VoIP-conference, our GM had to go into exile after he claimed his wife was sleeved in a pleasure pod (she actually wears a fury ^^) and then we have a belgian aboard whose English takes some getting used to.

Also, ingame, we had to get used to the possibilities and impossibilities of vales new shanghai and we spend major time on that, so relatively little plot happened.

I will try my hand at a synopsis and maybe nate will be so kind to clarify what i got wrong and add what i missed.

Basically the action starts when the group meets an informant in a bar. That guy, Ginder, is kind of a small time criminal and he is repaying our Medusan Shield Cop Jess Danton a favor. Jess was on a case tracking a fellow using the alias James Watts and Ginder digged up an XP in which he features. The rest of us is working for Red Five and acquaintances of Ginder who are in it for the money - as it turn out some morphs get clipped in the XP and they apparently are serviced through the Red Five clinic we work for - so recovering them and/or their stacks could result in some serious credits according to the 10% finder's fee policy red five has.
In the XP, which is from the perspective of a female, a group of people is approaching some ruins and talking about some kind of good find, of tech or something. Then their syrian-speaking guide turns on them and, with the aid of some ambushers, messily kills the whole group.

(I am quite happy that we didn't take serious mental trauma at this time, after all it was an XP and to experience dying can be traumatic...)

We discuss things a bit and finally find 3 of the group who have apparently been resleeved from backups in the meantime (the XP is 4 weeks old). Trying to contact them fails and soon after we find ourself investigating the site where Tamsy, the girl from whose perspective the XP was, was murdered (again).
Apparently two rough olympians waltzed in, killed her messily, shredded her brain with a diamond spray gun and trashed anything electronic that might give footage of the actual deed. They also took her cortical. We have some faint backup plans for retrieving data (Zero, our neocrow technician, wants to try and restore stuff from trashed appliances and my char, a doc, wants to dig for her mesh inserts and see if they retain any meaningfull data) but that was cut short when dancer, our security guy, encountered a "sniperbot", apparently a custom hover drone fitted with a sniper rifle. He manages to not get killed and even damage the bot but then the dragonfly jammed by zero blasts it to smithereens with a plasma rifle.

(I actually got a little issue here, because a plasma rifle is just about the most awesome weapon in the game and that same dragonfly was in a bar with us earlier - strange that nobody noticed or reacted to the heavy military hardware.)

After some unsuccessful attempts to get in touch with the backup ego of Tamsy we move on to the flat of the other two guys and find hints at the site of the ruins we saw earlier and decide to check it out next session.
They apparently noticed Tamsies renewed death and decided to get to the bottom of this, leaving for the ruins.

t-2 weeks some of the Watts group get resleeved from backup
t-1 week Ginder picks up the relevant XP from an unspecified source
t-1 day (about) Tamsy gets killed (again)
t-12 hours (or so) the other two set out in search of their lost time
t +0 Play begins, PCs meet Ginder
t +1 hour PCs investigate Tamsies murder site and have a run in with a hostile bot
t +2 hours (maybe) PCs investigate the flat of Horn and Burke and find hints about the ruins and their location

Next steps would be to get the go ahead or some leave at least from red five and secure some form of transport (a flying car would be best according to our austrian)
Maybe we can get transport from red five (there are some hints about lucrative alien tech after all) or maybe we can rent a flying car for a couple of days. I mean some of the PCs have quite a bit of money, so it should be possible.
It might also be advisable to get some sort of rifle for our security guy and to update the backup for those who aren't just jamming a morph around.

I'm afraid I'll have to leave this group. There is quite a bit of work heading towards me and I just don't have the time anymore. Sorry.

An autonomist (maybe scum) mechanic forked by a Mercurial terrorist, but refused to blow himself up in a Somatek owned factory-hab. He love to fix broken stuff even though he has talent for demolition pruned into him by his "father"
he managed to disable the death-switch of his stack and more than anything, he wants to be his own person.
And yet, he speaks of himself in third person, and will keep on doing that until Father is taken care off. For good.
Recently he learned, that Father has created a new fork for his nefarious purposes, and Xplo want to free the poor 'kid' before he blows himself up and worsen the condition of all uplift in their PR issues.
