Capitalization of factions and, again, Extropia
Is there a reason why factions like ultimates, argonauts, and mercurials are not capitalized. Is it because they are social movements rather than polities? For that matter, why would Extropian be capitalized since it too is more of a social (economic) movement than a polity despite there being a massive asteroid hab commonly called Extropia? There are other habs following Extropian beliefs that have no political connection with Extropia, like Ceres, and these people are Extropian (the philosophy) without being Extropian (from or of the hab of Extropia). I've also seen some weird references to Extropians as if they were a polity, namely when Gerlach considered an alliance with Extropia. How would that really work? It seems contradictory to have political connections with a place that is established as intentionally having no government (not even one as the anarachists or scum would recognize).

IIRC in 1e the ultimates and argonauts were capitalised. (My autocorrect even gives me capitalised Argonauts as default). IMO it is just an inconsistency in the books. By new convention extropians should be called anarchocapitalists with Extropian ties and style. Extropians would then be denizens of Extropia. Edit: You do not need government to have politics. You only need interests and groups of interests. Which Extropians definitely have.

The only direct reference I found was this from the Argonauts pdf: " Throughout this dossier, “Argonauts” with a capital “A” refers to the organized movement, while “argonauts” (lower case) refers to individual argonauts." I suppose the same principle could be applied to the capitalization of mercurials and ultimates.

That seems to be a better answer. If it works in context, even better. English is not my primary language. Don't know how much it overlaps with its convention .

Of course, that explanation is going to be a pain when dealing with factions like sapients. There are a lot of sapients in the setting that have nothing to do with the Sapients movement. Socialites might be the same, depending on how broad you view that movement.
