"About ten minutes. This is one of the reason, I prefer synth morph, I could simply fork and spend that time entertaining you, as well as working on business meeting. But I guess an endocrine system also has it's advantage, I can fully appreciate your company."
In the sea without lees
Standeth the bird of Hermes
Eating his wings variable
And maketh himself yet full stable
"It's good that that is an advantage. And also you can see my difficulty with synths, yes? Cyberbrains may work but they lack the presence of a living mind."
She smiles, "How long will business be?"
At least with Lovecraft, nobody pretends the gods are nice. And wherever you end up, there is guaranteed to be tentacles.
"Well, If it comfort you, I'll make sure to have biomorph when ever we are together, Miss Leng. As for business, I do not know, perhaps a half-hour. But first I need to see Ms. Cardiff. I've already delayed for quite a while."
"Then by all means you should see Ms. Cardiff. Would it be best if I waited here?"
"No, please, come along." Wei says, getting up. "I just need to pick a few things."
She walks over to her bags, taking out a handful of things, including a firearm and a creepy that activates, the squirrel like robot hoping onto her shoulder. The sets the weapon under the skirt of her robe, keeping it in place with grip pads.
"I always feel naked without a piece and a sensor suite." She declared with a grin.
"Little did I know that you were naked. Are we expecting a fight?"
She stands and stretches.
"Not quite, but it always pays to be ready for anything. In addition to a half dozen meetings through the weekend, I'm also casing the place for the Org. There are spares if you want one, they're made of composite material and radar invisible, slightly slower accuracy and fire rate than standard models though."
Leng leans close and whispers, "To quote a literary classic: Also, I can kill you with my brain." she smiles.
"I'm also glad to assist, really I am. You're making for an interesting evening."
"One of the best way to hide information is to make it plainly obvious. I've made a habit of scheduling several things at once as to keep people guessing which was the real deal."
"Security through information overflow, I like it."
She offers an arm, "Am I part of the distraction?"
"Perhaps, but I'm no longer sure who you're meant to distract, me or the others." Wei answers with a playful grin.
She grins back, "This I can live with, truly I can. Flatterer."
"Well then, Shall we go, Miss Leng? Ms. Cardiff will surely be delighted to meet you." Wei then deactivate the scrambling drone, setting it inside her purse.
"Then let us go." She straightens her hair and readies herself to face the world.
The trip down to the Casino floor is quick, with Wei looking at all the updates on his entoptic displays with a concerned look on his face. Finally, the door opens, the room is rather populated, chatters filling up the air.
[Will you be alright, Miss Leng?"
In the back of the room, a small crowd is gathered, composed of exquisitely dressed socialites.
Leng nods, [I've been warned now and Sparkle Pony is editing out enough of the overflow from my view. I'll be fine, but thank you for asking.]
She peers about, taking in the slightly edited version of the room which she is seeing.
As they walk forward to the center of the crowd, Wei keeping a good grip on Leng's arm. A Woman moves out of the lot, walking toward the two in a high end custom biomorph with elfin features and unearhtly eyes and azure skins. Only a step behind her is a man in a remade, looking grave, at his hip, a Pistol is clearly visible.
[Let me handle presentations, it can be seen as rude to do so yourself in these circles.] Wei asked, Leng via the Mesh. [Don't mind the bodyguard, she likes pretending to people she has one of the Ultimate on retainer.]
"Mr. Wei, I'm so glad to finally see you, I though you'd skipped out on my invitation. And who's this charming lady on your arm?" She ask. "You see me positively jealous."
"Good evening, Ms. Cardiff. This is Miss Leng, my escort for the night, but had I know you'd be alone, I would have surely asked you out. Was you husband unavailable?"
"Busy as always, not everyone can take the time to help those poor formers." As she speak, her voice sounds full with feigned care, a particular hint of snobness at the word Former. When she set her eyes on Leng it is with an almost predatory nature.
"Have you ever considered modelling my dear?"
Her smile is artful, "Thank you for asking but I'm far to private for that."
[Ah, the fetish some people have for the Ultimates.]
"Quite a shame..." the host pouts, looking disapointed at the answer. "Well, I hope you'll enjoy our little evening."
[It's getting popular with crime lords, it makes people hesitate to fuck with them. This one had his history cleaned, but he's actually an ancient MMA fighter.]
"Thank you very much ma'am."
[The ultimates are overrated.]
[Well, the Org has a few of them and I can attest for their efficiency in field operations. But they are not the type of people I enjoy the company of.]
"I'll have to leave soon for a moment, meet with the members of the movement in private. If you'd like, try your luck at the games offered, it's on me."
[I suggest Blackjack, Craps or Baccarat, they have the fairest odds against the house, Miss Leng.]
"Then you'll find me by the bar people watching. Come back soon."
[I'll take that under advisement.]
Leng nods and wander off to the bar to order a margarita and watch the movement of people being social.
EDIT: Moving do to request
*OOC: Ya sorry about that I was literally rushing out the door to work so i forgot to backcheck that.
As Leng was in another room, the Security guard from earlier come closer to Leng. Still wearing the uniform of the security group but no visible 14k signs.
Leng sips her drink and nods, "Good evening. How is your evening so far? No trouble I hope."
"Nothing major, a few person trying to pass contraband inside or trying to cheat at cards. Security had to be upgraded with freelancers, which is why I'm here." Sorin answers. "May I ask why Wei has decided to entertain you? He usually never mix pleasantries and work."
Cocks her head slightly, "Good timing and location perhaps? I don't know her well enough to say without more familiarity. In any case I'm enjoying the evening off."
She sips her drink, enjoying the combination of bite and salt, "I suppose the size of the party does call for a larger security detail, though I don't play cards."
Sorin looks at her suspiciously. "I'm sure that with your skills, you could make a killing at cards."
[I'm going to cut to the chase. What exactly has he told you he does?]
"I don't enjoy gambling. It's either pointless randomness or it's an exercise in who can be the most cut throat."
[*shrug emote* Mesh information services. Why do you ask?]
Sorin looks at her, seemingly unimpressed with her lie.
[Because I work with Wei. I like to be informed when he bring people on board. Are you?]
"So, do you play cards?"
[She's my date for the evening. Not a coworker. I've not questioned her motives, should I have brought rubber hose for a pre-date interrogation?]
"Sometimes, but never on the job. Especially not against my client." He then seems to be listening in to a mesh call, for a moment, looking sideways to his right ear. "I have to go, have a pleasant evening."
[I know, Fix, he had a reason to bring you about. I'll see you around, Miss Leng.]
((Wei has conducted a few emergency induction, including Sorin's daughter. Which has sort of left a stain between the two.))
She nods and orders another drink, "I'll keep that in mind."
Not too long after, Wei comes back into the room, her muse guiding her to Leng's location. "I'm sorry, Miss Leng, I hope you weren't terribly bored in my absence."
"I wasn't bored at all, just people watching and enjoying the bar."
[A Mister Sorin was very curious about why you brought me here. I sent him away with nothing.]
"This really is quite the event."
"Still, Let me make it up for you, while negotiating, I made some arrangements." She declare with a grin.
[Knowing Sorin, he was probably under the impression I was scouting you out for induction. He's still sore about Pigtail's.]
"Well then, who am I to say no to that?" Leng grinned back.
[That would fit the impression.]
"Well come, I'll show you." She says, taking her hand and leader her to the elevator.
Leng takes her dates hand and follows, "Well, far be it from me to say no to a surprise."
Wei leads her into a floor composed of several small meeting rooms, normally used by corporate suits. He then push the door open, revealing the room that has been cleared. Several of pods away with instruments, beginning to play as they enter the room.
"I've rented the in house band until the live show in an hour. May I have this dance, Miss Leng?"
She smiles in a very genuine way, "You most certainly may." she offers her other hand, "Lead on."
Wei leads her into a dance, starting with an upbeat Jazz song. "If you have any request, Miss Leng, feel free to communicate it."
She moves through the steps of an old swing dance with the jazz, "Well then, do you know the tango?" Leng grins broadly.
"As a matter of fact I do Miss Leng. It's one of the many things I've had to learn to stalk these high society events." She says, transmitting the request to the band. "Would you like to be lead or follow?"
"Why don't you lead?" she grins broadly and prepares to step into the dance.
"As you wish, Miss Leng." Wei answered as the band began playing an instrumental version of El Tango de Roxanne. "I must say, it truly makes me ecstatic to see you enjoying my little surprise." She adds, barely above a whisper as he leads her into the dance.
She moves with you in the accelerating steps of the dance, her skirt whirling with her. In a moment when it slows she quietly says, "And truly I am enjoying your surprise ... and your company."
Wei puts all of her attention in the dance, switching off all other distractions, instead simply focusing on enjoying the moment; the music, the energy, the company.
Leng moves with her dance partner, letting the wild steps of the tango become everything for a bit. The music, the movement, the abandon of it all suffusing her.
