Site Updates - Future Changes

Hi everyone, I wanted to let you know that I've been brought on by the Eclipe Phase team to get the forums and community site into shape. I have a pretty long list from the guys of things they would like to get set up, and I've looked through the threads in this forum for additional things to fix.
I'm setting up this thread to give the community here some insight into the changes as they occur, and to answer any questions you have regarding them. I will post to this thread with any new updates or setting modifications as they occur, so if you see something new - check this thread.
Most of the major changes will be occuring in the next few days as I configure the forums. You should see some pretty sizable improvements to the place, so hang on tight.

09.19.09 - Turned on Advanced Forums. Minor fixes under CSS for conflicts due to custom theme. Looks good in FF3. Does NOT look right in IE6. Change was rolled back pending further theme examination.

09.22.09 - Advanced forums worked this time. Some CSS is needed to make the look polished further. But now we have Mark all Read and other standard forum features available.
Please, let me know if you spot a bug or some CSS that looks like it could use some polishing up. Feedback from the community is the best guide I have to make sure that you have the tools you want.

09.24.09 - Advanced forums seems to have settled in well. Private Messages has been turned on. Minor changes were made to the Blogs front page to include a list of Categories in the right rail.

10.12.09 - Ignore user module enabled on request, please handle with care and kindness. It is always better to attempt to see the situation from your opponents point of view first before ignoring them.

10.14.09 - Faceted search enabled on the site. That should be very useful for locating old blog posts and forum threads. Let me know if anything misbehaves.

10.27.09 - Well folks. My work here is done for the moment. I hope everyone's adjusted to the new forums, and that you'll enjoy the upgrades. I will be around here and there if I'm needed, but otherwise I've turned the keys back over to the site owners. If something breaks or you see a good improvement that you'd like to suggest - feel free to let them know via threads here. 
It's been a pleasure getting the forums in shape for everyone,

the changes you've made have been pretty grand. the forum has transformed from something of an irksome necessity (if you wanted to gossip about EP) to something that is functional and enjoyable to use. Kudos, Mr. SysOp.

Planned Update: I'm planning to update the site to Drupal 6.16 tonight a little after midnight. There will be a small amount of downtime during this process to prevent data loss. Please keep this in mind if you are posting during this time.

04.21.10 - Very minor update this evening, I've added a link to the Blog RSS in the sidebar to your right. RSS feeds per forum can be found at the bottom of the forum display of topics as always.

Thank you very much for the "x new" links that now appear by each sub forum on the main page. It is much appreciated and makes it a lot easier to check for replies. I haven't checked, but that also goes up when there is new topics, and not just new replies?

As far as I know the x new links have been there the whole time actually. I haven't done anything to add those in place unless the last update to the Adv. Forums module did it. I'm also fairly sure those display for new topics but not new replies based on other requests I've seen, but I will check to see.

Yeah, I think I jumped the gun on that, and it only reports new topics, not new posts - which makes us still REALLY need that. It is really bothersome not having an easy way of finding new replies.

05.25.10 - Updated reCpatcha to latest, updated Views to latest. Also created new posts button and modified the adv forums template to allow the button to display inline with other forum buttons. Also updated the view displaying new post results. And lastly added on hover CSS to our navigation links.

11/15/10 - Recent, major upticks in timeouts on the php scripts the site uses. I've added php.ini, and am tweaking some account settings to try and give us a better situation. If all else fails, we might have to upgrade hosting accounts.

I'm not sure this theme is good for me, using FF 4.0 and it seems off.
The send private message link floats all the way into the post area, longer names get wrapped around and a few other small annoyances. Any possible way to make it a fluid width?
I'd like to be able to change my user name as well. If possible

Set width was a feature of the theme predating my coming onto the scene here. For standardization of design, it's wiser to have a set width than a fluid one. I can do an account rename for you if you have something you would prefer that wouldn't confuse those on the site re:who you are. (Only once, and cause you asked nicely )
I'll see if I can tweak the length on the send private message text so it doesn't overflow - I'm sure there's a way to do that. I'm pretty sure that change came in the course of one of our updates and I just hadn't spotted it yet.
