A question about merchandise

I'm not quite sure where to put this topic, but here seems as good a place as any. I am having a great time running weekly Eclipse Phase games at my local game store, in fact more often than not it draws a bit of a crowd of people who are curious as to what is going on or who are roleplayers that are fascinated by the book and the setting.

Naturally I offer them up my hard-copy of the book to look through to get them interested (because thanks to the pdf+book bundle) I can check the rules on my laptop (though I still eagerly await another print run so I can have one book for people to peruse and another for the players.

But I am wondering if there is any chance at all that you guys might come out with an EP shirt or something. Merchandise like cups, mugs, shirts, etc that you could sell at conventions or do a limited run so that interested parties (like myself) could wear their favourite RPG loud and proudly.

Just a suggestion but I think that the EP logo and tag-line would make for an absolutely fantastic shirt, black naturally and I know the local gaming store here buys stocks of gaming/geek t-shirts which seem to get snapped up pretty quickly.

So is there any chance that this might happen?

Hm, does the CC License allow you to start your own CafePress store to sell shirts to yourself while opting out commercial sales? It's free to start a store and upload artwork, and then you can buy shirts for between $19.99 and $23.99.

Unless I completely misunderstand the CafePress price guide.

We're looking into options for new shirts. T-shirt runs are problematic for a few reasons, but we're trying to figure out how to do it without losing money and sanity.

Please remember that you can give the PDF away to anyone interested in it, legally!

What size laptop do you have? I've been considering getting some Gelaskins printed ...

And yes, you can print shirts for yourself / your gaming group / your parents under the Creative Commons license, as long as you're not making profit.

Re: A question about merchandise

All of my players have copies of the updated core-book, the problem with giving away copies of the pdf is mostly one of efficiency - in general most people who stop in and watch don't have laptops with them, and copying the pdf to a CD while that doesn't cost much per-CD it doesn't really make good use of the space (the pdf being only 43mb).

I know the game store has several copies of EP on order, but until that next print run comes out I have the only hard-copy in town (to the best of my knowledge). This factoid makes me wary of distributing CD-copied pdfs freely, largely because a lot of the gamer-base of the city I live in are University students and as the proprietor of the store (and player in the game) has commented, RPG books don't sell as well as his other geek-products (anime, board/card games, geek-shirts, etc).

This is a problem he has found from the various Pathfinder and RPGA society weekly events that are run there where players prefer to drag in pdfs of the books and share those around than to actually buy hard copies of them. So while I am a huge advocate of the CC license I am torn between promoting EP and supporting a local business that is still only new.

I would definitely buy EP Gelaskins for both my laptop and iPhone, I have a 15" widescreen MSI laptop. Nothing fancy, I use it to keep notes and player records as well as to reference the core book.

Searching the resources on the site though I can't seem to find wallpapers, specifically higher-resolution wallpapers (1900x1200) and so on. Any chance you guys could link me to them if I have simply be so blind as to miss them?

We don't have wallpapers up aside from the iPhone/iPad ones I made ... the bluntly honest story there is I want to build a Wallpaper Hack Pack so people can download source files and build their own wallpaper and share that, but I just haven't gotten around to doing the necessary work to get it finished.

I would love to have an EP themed teeshirt

was thinking something like a Titanian Commonwealth teeshirt, an Argonaut advertizing

or the classic

I'd imagine that cases are the most common morphs amongst the re-instantiated destitute.

PHS should consider a cafe press shop, maybe sharing profits with the artists who create the particular art for a particular piece? You could have all kinds of coolness. Posters, stickers, t-shirts, ball caps...

I would represent! Laughing out loud

"...Stupid flat"?

Other t-shirt lines:

"Yes, it's a sylph. No, you can't touch."

"I'd take that back to the body bank if I were you."

"Is that a utilitool in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?"

I know these are awful. I apologise. Any others?

Until this gets finished, I just cobbled together a small/tiny wallpaper pack for everybody to use, using nothing but your tasty logo .psd: http://www.mediafire.com/file/tu405g1p5hvg63g/EP-Wallpaper-release.zip

Regarding t-shirts: If you're going the T-shirt route, I'd suggest keeping it simple and efficient, the game's logo on the front, on black or dark-grey. With the website in small lettering on one sleeve. Sleek, sexy and curiosity-building.
