Panopticon Print on Demand Available!

Eclipse Phase's Panopoticon has been added to DriveThruRPG in both Premium paper and Standard print versions. The full print run sold out earlier this year, and we're proud to keep it available, alongside the Platinum-selling PDF!

Panopticon surveys three areas of the Eclipse Phase setting:

  • Ubiquitous surveillance and sousveillance—living in a transparent society
  • The inner workings of space habitats—and how to hack them
  • Uplifts and smart animals—their scientific and cultural impacts
  • plus new morphs, gear, habitat rules, and more!

The difference between the Standard ($34.99) and Premium ($49.99) versions of the Panopticon print on demand hardcover is the paper quality—the Premium version uses thicker (70lb) paper, which holds the ink better to produce more accurate colors.

A discounted bundle of the PDF + Print version is also available!

It was never really clear why these were going to never get another printing

Any comparison info between the original printing and the PoD options?

Like ORCACommander

I'm also curious how the original compares to the POD version.

For example, does the POD have the ribbon bookmark?

Sadly, no POD service can do

Sadly, no POD service can do bookmarks like offset printers can. So no, there's no ribbon bookmark in the POD books.

If you have any of our other POD books from DriveThruRPG, almost all of them use the Premium paper (the only other book we've printed with the Standard paper is the Quick-Start Rules, to keep the price down). Due to the price differences, we're also making Panopticon available with Standard paper.

Comparison photos will be available soon; I've yet to be in the same room as all three of them, yet.

We didn't do a full offset reprint of Panopticon because it would have tied up a decent sum of money, as the per-unit costs of a relatively small print run are high. Our prognostications had the reprint taking almost two years to just break even. High cost + slow rate of return == danger, danger!

Crowd Fund Project?

Can you crowd fund the project to get all books printed on off-set? I know I prefer my dead tree versions to be higher quality (read durable).

P.S. I often post from my phone as I travel extensively for work. Please forgive typos and grammar issues.

Not a politically wise move

Not a politically wise move with PS+ still owing rewards on their last kickstarter.

Slow and steady progress though. Eventually the backlog will end

We're pretty sure that crowdfunding reprints is probably not a good use of the time/effort that crowdfunding takes. The POD books are not the same as offset quality, but they are nice quality. And you've had several years already to pick up the first print run of Panopticon. ;-)
