[OOC] Darkcast - discussion/format
root@Darkcast
What do people think about the format of In Character posts? So far there hasn't been much in the way of format, and we've used this forum as a place to kick around some of the less familiar ideas in the setting. The in-character point of view has been fantastic for exploring political and philosophical divides in the setting, and finding the nuance in several political stances. To date, however, there have not been any games run in the In Character forum, and I was wondering if any potential gamemasters had any requests for features or formats? Are there any Mesh Archive topics that people would like to see opened? Any suggestions for other EP Mesh styles?
Comments? Criticisms? Rotten tomatoes?
I guess thats a no then, anyone still interested then just pm me.
I'm interested. Things are relatively slow here lately.
Of course saying I'm a nonstandard character is putting it mildly. }; )
I'm interested in a play-by-post game. I'm just not sure how well it might go in a forum like this; the forum setup is not really equipped for a potentially multi-threaded game.
I would question 1st person past tense as being a good idea to write in. Good for reports, bad for in media res fiction.
Also the two week lifespan makes it hard for anyone to attach any sort of sympathy to that particular character. I don't know anyone who cares about a suicide drone. We care about James Bond because he's actually in danger. Not because he's disposable, or as Fight Club would put it, "A single serving secret agent."
On my own front I wonder if I should take things to the level I want to go to. I mean it's a public board and I'm not going any farther than rated R. However there are some adult themes, one of which was suggested by Arenamontanus that I find interesting. But then again I find Hostel, and Hannibal Lecter interesting and this is a horror game. }; P
Hmm that's a pretty reasonable guideline. And no I don't want to spend any time in dark rooms.
I'm just a fan of gritty realism, not watered down fluff.
Thanks for the input though, I have an idea.
Well there you go. Very rough post. I can tell my sentence structure and grammar suffers the more tired I get.
You can thank Arenamontanus for xianrou, Quentin Tarantino, and La Femme Nikita for the rest. }; )

I would love to GM a game. Ill look at putting one together. Off the top of my head ill need a separate thread for characters and in-game material. And from there all we would need to do is make sure that everything said "in character" is in quotation marks and anything that the [characters thinks] is in brakets and all ((out of character)) is in double parenthesis. Anyone let me know if there is an intrest to do this and ill start straight away, well I've already started, so let me know if I should continue.
God sells knowledge for labour.
