So I got a question:
Repair Spray: This nanobot generator creates nanobots designed to repair synthmorphs, vehicles, and other common objects. Repair spray contains the specifications and plans for almost all commonly used synthmorphs and devices and is a ubiquitous household item.
So does that mean that if you buy the blueprints to repair spray you basically get all those other blueprints for free because the spray has to know them in order to do it's job? Would it be possible to reverse engineer the spray's compiled code to extract the blueprints?
What's more, would it be possible to make an "evil" version of repair spray (tentatively called Gremlin Spray) that does what the repair spray does in reverse and actually sabotage item?

Purely in the interest of not wanting to cheese the fuck out of the game I would say no. Why? Because fuck you, thats why.
That is by far the best reason to say no that I've heard in a while!

This isn't so bad, actually. Any device in Eclipse Phase has computing power, and since most construction is birthed from nanofactory cauldrons, most items will have native infections of nanites. Some of these nanites will carry some code that tells the Repair Spray how and where to go do its thing, using it as a tool for self reconstruction. That way the Repair Spray doesn't need to be a computronium super-seed.

Hmm so in short you are saying that the repair spray works by talking to the leftovers already floating around in the object? That's actually kinda neat!

The sort of blueprints that repair spray carries isn't the same as the sort used by nanomachines to build the object. Nanomechanical blueprints are linear steps for assembly, while repair spray data likely contains the basic layout of the object necessary to patchwork it up. I'll even go so far as to say that repair spray cannot necessarily repair something to pristine condition, depending on how unique or special the device in question is. One with data in the public domain may be fully repaired, while top-of-the-line tech will likely have repair scars as a part of the process.

Purely in the interest of not wanting to cheese the fuck out of the game I would say no. Why? Because fuck you, thats why. But in all seriousness, I would say there is a difference between having the "plans and specifications" of certain objects and having a blueprint that is capable of reproducing it. Like when you buy a flatpack from Ikea, you get instructions on how it all fits together, but not on how the components themselves where made.
And we have the opposite of Repair Swarms, they are called Disassemblers and they are nastly little bastards.
