Request for Dev Sigs

Greetings all,

I have what I hope is a helpful suggestion. It seems like it would be a good idea to have the writers/devs include that position in their signatures. Some posters on the forums write with what sounds like a good deal of authority and I've no way of knowing if they're in charge of that field or just some dude in Utah with a lot of time on his hands. It'd certainly help me out and would probably help others to know that the advice/rulings we find here come from someone with authority.

Thank you all,

I've seen this in other forums (the Classic Battletech Forum for example) and it is helpful. It could be as simple as adding the EP logo over the person's name to denote they are a core developer and/or EP employee.

There isn't anything code based that would be needed for this, just a bit of configuration for titles and signatures. I'll pass the mention along to the crew, cause it is a handy feature.

(For what it's worth - I'm the drupal website monkey.)

I would put in my two cents worth that there be some way to tell administrators apart from posters. For instance, I believe sysop is an administrator, while root, myself, am not. I can see nothing on sysop's signature that tells me they are an admin other than the offer to fix broken things, and nothing to tell me apart from an administrator other than a silly in-character signature.

The latest round of updates to the site got the titles to show up. So you'll see our titles now. Smile

Are we doing this with writers too?

I don't believe so at the moment. PHS (aka Rob) made the call on who got titles and who doesn't. So he'd be the person to ask to get writers on that list. Smile

That's okay. I'm more comfortable with my familiar title, 'peon'.
