Constant "Page Not Found" errors
Yesterday the entire website was giving me Page Not Found errors, even for the main sections like "login" and "Blog". It seems to be better this morning but is there a server load issue going on when things get busier in the afternoon? The site is unusable much of the time.
What CodeBreaker said - for a few days there the hosting service's servers were rather flakey. I think you just had some bad luck for timing. Let me know if you're still seeing the really bad performance even now?
Random Cosmic Imbalances, glad i made it here...
As of now (17:03 GMT+1) i always get the "Page not found" and 500 Errors. It's hard to read the whole forum :/
Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Please contact the server administrator, and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.
More information about this error may be available in the server error log.
Additionally, a 500 Internal Server Error error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
We've seen a sharp upswing in these errors as well over the last week. (Much more than we used to have in the past). So I'm looking into it today and tomorrow, it seems to be tied to some limits on our server environment killing off our php scripts before they can be completed. Please bear with us? I know it's pretty wretched to deal with. :-/
I bear, i bear
Had to fight with the computer at my workplace again, so i can feel your pain.
Okay, so you guys are having the same issues that I am. I was concerned that something which occurred in my area (damage to a major gas main and possibly other underground lines and pipes) was affecting my web access. Looks like that's not the case here.
I'm experiencing the same problem, and a consistent 5+ second age load time pretty much all over the site. Google's Developer tools are showing some interesting tidbits.....
My apologies for not providing further information earlier. The page load problem appears to be local to the server.
I've made some changes, and redirected some robots that were hitting the site and really tying up our resources to try and make the site a little more stable. I'm seeing a drop in the Page Not Found errors in our logs - how is it behaving on your end of things, guys?
Thanks, sysop!
The load time is halved for most operations for me, but it's slower when I'm logged in than when I'm not. We're looking at 1-2 second page load times, so it's much better than before. I haven't yet hit a 404.
Sorry to say, no. Just one page loaded this try, guess which one? this one :/
Fix didn't seem to help much. Its been good all day, but the last few hours its back.
I too am experiencing slow load times and 404's again, per the previous behavior. Bummer! If you want a flunky to do tests, please feel free to ping me.
I'm seeing the same. Back to tweaking the back end. :-/ Thanks for the feedback guys!
Hi sysop,
You're probably already hip to the tools at your disposal, but I figured that I'd mention that Chrome has a decent audit function in the developer tools that shows some quick fixes you might be able to apply. The two big ones it's talking about are using browser caching settings for the userbars, and some jibberjabber about css script ordering.
I hope this proves to be useful, as I'm sure you have plenty on your plate.

Presuming you're talking about the user bars on user signatures - those aren't actually under our control, they're hosted by a kindly forum member. What's going on is 500 errors on the back end, that I've traced to be related to php timeouts on page renders. So while looking at css and the like is nice for speed performance (and redoing our theme for a cleaner setup is on my to do list) - it's pretty low on the list for fixing right now unfortunately.
Sadly, the Chrome tool leaves much to be desired - namely, the complete paths to the userbars it mentions, the NAME of the css files it's crying about, yadda yadda. Good luck!
Hah, got better. From 10 posts only two hat the Page not Found.
It's getting better +2 Rep
For what it is worth, the few times I have been browsing the site (usually between 1300 and 1700 EST5EDT), I successfully view pages about 40% of the time. Mostly my browser gets Drupal 404 errors, with the occasional Apache 405. I have not run any utilities against the site to get a better picture of what is going on, so I cannot give any better information than that.
It is now happening when attempting to send private messages.
Not sure when it happened as i've been AFK for a few days, but the site is as zippy as I've ever seen it at this moment. Good work!
Thanks - we've definitely seen a drop off in the errors, though I'm still seeing them occurring in our logs. It looks like it was tied to memory limits our php is running under on our hosting, at least that's the change that's had the most effect. Work shall continue until I'm convinced by the logs that all is well.
Strange I get 404 errors from time to time when trying to open blog or forums but if I just navigate away and come back a minute or two later usually works fine.
The errors are back again :/
Mea culpa
I've been hacking out some of the low performing pieces of code in our backend for the last hour to drive them back down. In that process, a lot of caches have gotten purged repeatedly. So chances are what you were seeing was due to my mid-flight fixing. I've gotten it to a stable point, so hopefully you'll see a drop off again. If not, let me know.
Now I'm occasionally getting 404, maybe 25% of the time. Last three days, between 0500 and 0700 only. Also sometimes getting a time error (saying posts are more recent by one hour than they actually are) shortly before that lasts until it stops.
Ok, we've updated servers at this point - how are things going now? Better?
Load times for pages slower and alot of page not found errors. Refreshing and up to a full minute or two before page loads on second try sometimes. Seems worse last week or so.
PC at work and laptop at home lag loading the pages. Just got a new ipad and it loads EP pages damn quick.

Yesterday night they had some server issues. As far as I am aware they sorted them.
