Closing / Deleting accounts

I tried to find an option to close and delete my account here but had no luck. Do we have one? Can we get one?

I don't believe that Drupal supports such an option; deleting user-accounts is a touchy thing for many reasons in a system like this.

If you for some reason don't want to be able to use the system anymore, I would suggest changing your password to a random string of characters that you won't be able to easily recall. That way if you ever want, you can recover your password and return.

Adam's right - deleting the account is tricky because it would leave all your current posts orphaned. Basically it mucks around with accountability for posts. If you're looking to stop receiving emails each email should have an unsubscribe link allowing you to unsubscribe and change your configurations for any subscriptions. Then locking yourself out as Adam described would probably put up enough resistance that would help you not log in in the future if that's what you wanted.
